Week Six: Master Artist Inspirations
This is it. . . one last adventure in the world of virtual ceramics! I have always enjoyed seeing what students come up with to solve this problem! Here is the final challenge...
MASTER ARTIST - Look into different "master artists" and select one to focus on. It needs to be an artists who has international recognition. Some good resources would be the National Gallery of Art, the MOMA, or any Art history book. - Research your artists and their work. What are they most famous for? What is their most recognizable work? What medium are they best known for? What period or style of art are they associated with? - Now... figure out how you would make a ceramic piece that personifies the work of your particular artists? Please don't simply copy their work, figure out a way to make something new that is clearly inspired by their work. This could be in sketch form or just talk about what you think you would have done IF we were able to be in the studio together. - Try not to choose a ceramic artist. . . this is more about digging into some famous artists and their work. Then figuring out how you could build upon what they are most famous for in a new ceramic form. - You should share information about your artist and how you would have made a ceramics piece that relates to that artist :) Here are some useful links. . .Fun fact. . . Picasso dabbled in ceramics. Check out some of his work. |
Here are a few examples of what students have done in the past!
