Ceramics 2: Distance Learning Opportunities, Resources, and Challenges
Welcome to our virtual ceramics experience. It is my hope to provide you with an array of opportunities that support your interest in the ceramic arts, expose you to new ceramics concepts, and feed your curiosity! Teaching and learning this particular medium in a purely digital way creates a different set of challenges for sure... but it also provides some unique opportunities to think outside of the box!
So in addition to some of the concepts that we would normally cover in a studio environment, we will need to explore what is possible with limited hands on materials and tools. How this looks will be up to you. . . Do you want to make your own clay type material and try some hands on projects or would you rather explore new artists and techniques? Would you like to dive into the history of certain ceramic traditions or see how to build your own kiln? It is my hope that providing you with a variety of options allows for a more personalized learning experience. Honestly that relies alot on the mind set we all choose to have during this unique time together. |
SO. . . this was about my 10th attempt at a quick video to welcome you and give you some insight into how we can roll with this virtual ceramics experience. Oh my can I ramble on. . . Enjoy!

Thoughts on TAB and Studio Habits of MindThis is a video I made primarily for the parents and families at GBLUES. It hopefully can give you all a little more insight into who I am as an artist, educator, and human being :) Personally I think the Studio Habits of Mind apply to all aspects of becoming a lifelong learner. . . Engage and Persist are a big part of how we handle the next few weeks for sure!
